Program Notes

"The Lady of Ma-Lan," also titled "Ma-Lan Love Song," is a folksong of the A-Mei aboriginal people of Taiwan. The lyrics reflects a woman's yearning, dedication to love, and value for self-determination of marriage. The melody is delicate, meticulous, and whispering gently. Behind the tune is a love story of the A-Mei tribe, which is very touching.
