Morning Sunshine at the Temple – Program Note
This piece was composed for guitar solo, and is inspired by the poem, "Morning Sun at the Temple of Lord Guan",
written by the famous Taiwanese female poet, Chen Hsiu-Hsi.
It depicts the sunrise and the scene of morning worshippers
at the Templeof Lord Guan. The music unfolds with overtones
symbolizing a bird's call. The piece is consisted of three parts:
1. the morning fog and birdsong at the Temple of Lord Guan;
2. the splendid colors of sunlight reflected on the temple's roof;
3. the depiction of pilgrimage and the offerings from the pilgrims.
It is a musical piece that embraces the composer's hometown, Taiwan,
and expresses her love and care for the motherland.
This piece was commissioned by the Spanish guitarist Silvia Nogales for her women project in 2020.
This piece also was recorded by guitarist Daryan Shahab and released by Phasma Music in April 2023.
