"Obsession, A Hakka Caprice" - Program Note
This arrangement is for violin and orchestra. It was inspired by the Hakka
folksongs and used Strawinsky's Tango as a connection. In addition to breaking
the impression of the stereotype of Hakka folksongs, the composer attempted
to give folksongs a different style and kind of appearance to show the elegant
charm of folksongs. To imagine a free, loose tempo folk song melody with a bright
and cheerful tango rhythm. Is it mysterious passion? Or confused? If Strawinsky
met a Hakka girl, what spark would it spark?
This arrangement was commissioned by the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in 2020.
